TRANSYT 14.1

TRANSYT (Traffic Network Study Tool) is a traffic signal optimization and network modeling application developed by TRL Limited. It is used by traffic engineers and planners to design and refine coordinated, fixed-time signal plans for corridors and urban networks, with the goal of improving progression, reducing delay and stops, and managing queues.

Using a macroscopic cyclic flow profile with platoon dispersion, TRANSYT simulates how vehicle platoons move through signalized junctions and estimates key performance measures such as average delay, number of stops, queue lengths, fuel consumption, and emissions. A built-in optimizer searches for cycle lengths, splits, and offsets that meet user-defined constraints while minimizing a composite performance index.
